From November 1st to December 3rd, we are running our Gift a Good Food Box holiday campaign! What a wonderful gift that truly gives back! This campaign offers our supporters the opportunity to purchase a Good Food Box and then gift it to a family struggling with food insecurity. With the cost of food on the rise, the need to support our neighbours continues to rise as well.

This year, our first goal is to gift at least 120 medium Good Food Boxes please consider helping us get there!

Testimonials

My children so look forward to getting the Good Food Box – always full of surprises. I’m a single parent of two growing children, thank you for all your support.

– N.E.

We are seniors who receive AB benefits. We are so blessed with the food we receive with the Spinz-A-Round program. We love a good variety of things to help us cook and eat much more healthy.

– P.R.

I had a great time during Souper Stars. Me and the rest of the class hope you can come back and see us next year. The best part about was you showing me that eating healthy is a big part of our lives."

– Dal

How we make a difference?

The Community Kitchen Program of Calgary operates a self-empowering model to address the needs of marginalized Calgarians. We have evolved over the years to meet the changing needs of our city, in response to our deepening awareness and understanding of the complex issues of poverty and hunger ... We teach participants how to prepare nutritious meals, budget their finances -- making their income stretch by preparing cost effective, healthy meals, as well as providing a means to access nutritious food.

The programs we have built help adults, children and families to eat healthier, at a lower cost, learning how to cut the grocery bills and most importantly how to keep these healthy habits throughout their lifetime. We are not just giving a 'hand-out', but a 'hand-up'! Children are the future, which is why we teach our next generation about nutrition, smart grocery shopping, how to read a food label, safety with knives, cross contamination, and even proper etiquette. These children will obtain information and hopefully keep it with them as they grow, influencing the following generations and in turn, lowering the hunger population in this city.
