Apple Crisp | Cooking in the Community Kitchen | Ep. 3

Join Judy for the third episode of Cooking in the Community Kitchen, where she accompanied by a very special guest, Mariya Stokes. Together they Share the Love as they make a delicious Apple Crisp that your loved ones will ask for again and again. Community Kitchen is a non-profit organization that focuses on education and nutrition. Each month, there will be a new video that teaches people a simple recipe with a featured ingredient from the Good Food Box.

Ingredients

  • 6 Apples, (a Variety of apples will vary the texture) peeled, cored and cut into slices about 1/2" thick

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

  • 3/4 cup rolled oats

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/2 cup, soft butter or margarine

  • Cooking spray

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. If using glass, cook at 350 degrees Use the cooking spray to coat the 8" pan. Sides and bottom.

Stir flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg together. Add in butter, mix butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender, fork or your fingers!!

If the butter is at room temperature, the crumb mixture will tend to have larger crumbs. Sprinkle the topping mixture evenly over the sliced apples.

Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly around the edges. Let it cool! Serve with ice cream or whipping cream. This recipe can be doubled and freezes well.
